Laboratory white mice (Mus musculus) were reared under two different types of fluorescent light and live weight gain was measured over a period of up to 70 days illumination. Significant differences in live weight were found. However, these differences are dependent upon the age at which the mice are first subjected to the different lighting regimes. The results are discussed in terms of the use of animal experiments in modelling human performance under artificial lighting conditions. |
