The adsorption efficiency of the “Organics—Carbon Adsorbable”; method has been determined, for large grab samples of several different waters, by automated monitoring of the minisampler's influent and effluent for dissolved organic carbon. Average adsorption efficiencies of 80-90% were found for waters with a wide range of dissolved organic carbon content. The low yields of carbon-chloroform extract obtained by this procedure are attributed to inefficient extraction by chloroform. |
