Taguchi optimization in the design of a printer registration system

Title: Taguchi optimization in the design of a printer registration system
Author: Herrmann, Douglas K.
Appeared in: Journal of engineering design
Paging: Volume 18 (2007) nr. 1 pages 1-11
Year: 2007-02
Contents: Taguchi techniques provide an effective tool early in the product design process to optimize system design. As with most product designs, a printer registration unit is affected by a number of internal (parts and assemblies) and external (substrate variety and environmental) factors. Because of this, it is necessary to optimize the design parameters against the effects of noise. It is this optimization process that is discussed here. By concurrently testing several parameters at once, a test based on Taguchi techniques allows for an efficient and compact test design. By selecting the optimum values of the important parameters, a system design can be created to meet the market requirements.
