Contents: Using SPOT-4 VEGETATION data for near-real time mapping is new. In this Letter, a robust technique for cloud decontamination of the ten-day composites is presented. A forest-cover map of Madagascar is derived from monthly images from October 1998 to September 1999 with a user's accuracy of 87.8%.
