The idea that every two years the past president of the German Society of Psychology should give a report regarding the state of psychology was conceived in the city of Kiel. The unanimous agreement of the last board of directors on this idea gives me the honour, the task, and the challenge to actualize this idea for the first time. I must admit that I was at first, even as I am now, embarrassed by the expression “the state of psychology”. I am sure you understand my feelings. You should therefore take into account from the very beginning that my report of the current situation will manifest at every step my own embarrassment. |
