Dans cette recherche, nous cherchons a e prouver la pertinence de la distinction de deux me moires qualifie es d'exacte et d'infe rentielle. Dans les deux expe riences, sur 140 e le ves de Cours Moyen et 456 e tudiants respectivement, les sujets prennent d'abord connaissance d'un mate riel nume rique: un proble me arithme tique ou un calcul mental (e.g. 86 + 47 + 93 + 52). Ensuite, ils sont interroge s a la fois sur des donne es exactes contenues dans ce mate riel et sur des donne es susceptibles d'en e tre infe re es. La recherche ne confirme pas clairement une inde pendance des deux types de me moire. Enrevanche, elle apporte des e vidences en faveur d'une moindre sensibilite a l'amorc age de la me moire exacte. Elle sugge re aussi que l'effet de distance peut, en calcul mental, e tre diffe rencie suivant les ope rations arithme tiques: les ope rations additives y sont plus sensibles que les ope rations multiplicatives. Inthis researchwe investigate the relevance of a distinction between an exact memory and an inferential memory. Inthe two studies, on 140 fourth- and fifth-graders and on 456 adult students respectively, the subjects are first informed of a numerical material: anarithmetic verbal problem or a mental calculation (e.g. 86 +47 +93 +52). Then they are tested both on exact data and on data that canbe inferred from the information previously given. The research does not clearly support an independence between the two forms of memory. However, it shows evidence for a lower sensitivity to priming of the exact memory. Furthermore, the second study demonstrates that the mental arithmetic split effect (Ashcraft, 1992) can be differentiated following the arithmetical operations: additive operations are more sensitive to it than multiplicative operations.
