There are thousands of social scientists throughout the world who, as individuals, belong to such organizations as the British Political Science Association, the Dutch Economic Association, or the British Psychological Society. Some, as individuals, are interested in the international work in their field and belong to the international equivalent of their national professional body-WAPOR, the International Political Science Association (IPSA), or the International Economic Association (IEA). And some, through their individual membership, belong to their national disciplinary body, which is a member of its international body, e.g., the International Union of Psychological Science. These international professional associations are UNESCO Class 11 non-governmental associations (NGOs) affiliated to the International Social Science Council (ISSC), which is a UNESCO Class I organization.
