Author: Dorai, Mohamed
Appeared in: International journal of psychology
Paging: Volume 28 (1993) nr. 1 pages 3-18
Year: 1993-02-01
The aim of this work was to apply the experimental paradigm of crossed categorization to study the relations between subjects of different nationalities. With this in mind, an experiment was conducted with 28 American and 28 French people used as subjejcts. As expected, in situations of simple categorization each American or French group positively evaluated his own group while devaluating the other. These results were annuled in situations of crossed categorization. However, this annulment didn't last during a post test conducted three weeks later. A discussion of these effects was established.
