The composition of poly(urethane ureas) modified with and without poly(dimethyl-siloxane) (PDMS) was investigated using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy coupled with attenuated total reflectance and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results indicate that both the air-facing and mold-facing surfaces showed significantly more PDMS and poly(tetramethylene oxide) (PTMO) soft segments than the average concentration in the bulk, and the air-facing surfaces contained more PDMS and PTMO segments than the corresponding mold-facing surfaces. Hydration in water for up to three weeks did not result in any change in the composition of surfaces based on the relative absorbing intensities, neither in hydrogen-bonding structure of the surfaces. |
