Choanephora Pod Rot of Cowpea in Southern Nigeria

Title: Choanephora Pod Rot of Cowpea in Southern Nigeria
Author: Oladiran, A. O.
Appeared in: International journal of pest management
Paging: Volume 26 (1980) nr. 4 pages 396-402
Year: 1980-12-01
Contents: Crop loss due to Choanephora cucurbitarum was estimated at between 7% and 20% in southern Nigeria. Injury is an important factor in Choanephora pod rot infection. Chloroneb, thiram, thiram + BHC, fentin acetate, captafol, fentin hydroxide and captan, in laboratory bioassay, inhibited the mycelial growth while thiram, thiram + BHC and captan inhibited conidial germination of C. cucurbitarum. The same fungicides which inhibited conidial germination reduced initial infection rate in the field but seemed to aggravate infection rate subsequently.
