This paper proposes an approach to solve logistics problems for a canning company situated in Navarra, Spain. Heuristic algorithms and linear programming routines are used, relying on the sweeping and Clarke-Wright algorithms for starting solutions that are improved by linear programming. Final outcomes focus on costs reduction and logistics decision-making support. The main contribution of this paper is the development of a mixed procedure combining exact and heuristic algorithms to solve routing problems. The model can be applied to other transportation problems in the agro-business industry. |
