High frequency signal injection (dither) has found applications in control and stabilization, adaptive systems, identification and quantization. A discussion of typical uses is given and analyses are presented using the concept of equivalent non-linearity. A new weighting function approach to the equivalent non-linearity is introduced and its versatility is illustrated. The new approach permits nonlinear characteristics to be synthesized using some basic functions and waveform generators. |
