In this paper the state equation of a linear time-varying R-L-C network will be modified into a first-order differential equation of the form: [image omitted] where A1(t) and A2(t) are two symmetrical matrices. A stability theorem for the time-varying R-L-C network will then be established when F(t) = 0 from the stand-point of boundedness of ‖ z(t) ‖, the Euclidian norm of the vector consisting of the flux linkages with the inductors and charges associated with the capacitors. The result of this theorem may be used as a testing method for the stability of a network by testing suitable sub-networks of the original network. In the latter part of the paper a stability theorem which relates specific parameter variations to the stability of the network will be proved. It will be shown that the stability conditions derived in this chapter are sharper than the existing ones. |
