The analysis of self-saturating magnetic amplifiers requires the solution of non-linear differential equations which become too involved to be applied conveniently in industrial problems. This is because the flux current characteristic of the magnetic material is non-linear. If an equivalent average permeability of the magnetic material can be obtained, the analysis of the amplifier becomes much more simplified. In this paper a method has been described of measuring in a simple way the equivalent average dynamic permeability of core pertinent to the self-saturating condition of the magnetic amplifier. |
