This article seeks to address two main questions in relation to writing about art therapy. Firstly, why do art therapists write and publish? and secondly, what influence might this literature have on the clinical practice of art therapy? Drawing on the authors personal experience, the article explores some of the pros and cons of writing and publishing, with particular attention being paid to the issue of motive. The article concludes by arguing that despite the problems associated with writing, the ability to do so is an important, and rewarding, aspect of professional development. |
