Title: A Fictitious Domain Method with Distributed Lagrange Multiplier for Particulate Flow
Author: Nagai, M.
Kawahara, M.
Appeared in: International journal for computational methods in engineering science and mechanics
Paging: Volume 8 (2007) nr. 3 pages 115-122
Year: 2007-05
Contents: In this paper, a numerical simulation of the incompressible viscous flow around a lot of blowing particles is presented. The rigid particle motions in the fluid are caused by fluid and gravity forces. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equation and the Newton second law are introduced as the basic equation for the action of a rigid body particle. To solve the problem, the finite element method and the fictitious domain method with distributed Lagrange multiplier are applied. For the finite element method, the new stable formulation by Okumura and Kawahara based on the mixed bubble function is applied. The complicated and large-scale computational model can be solved.
