Spectrophotometric Precision: a Case By Case Simulation Study

Title: Spectrophotometric Precision: a Case By Case Simulation Study
Author: Voigtman, Edward
Appeared in: Instrumentation science & technology
Paging: Volume 21 (1993) nr. 1-2 pages 43-62
Year: 1993
Contents: The relative concentration error of a simple “Beer's law” spectrophotometric instrument is easily and quantitatively modeled with the use of a simulation program and custom-programmed optical and electronic component blocks. The simulation data are in excellent agreement with published results. The models have also been used in predictive fashion. Concentration noise was directly examined and was found to be similar, in over-all behavior, to source flicker noise. It was also shown that care must be exercised in the determination of the relative concentration error, since the most straight-forward method is significantly biased.
