Contents: The purpose of this article is to describe several of the mathematical design techniques that have led to the electronic circuitry of the ORNL Model Q-2792 controlled-potential dc polarograph. Primary emphasis is placed upon the time-averaging and time-derivative circuits of this instrument. The mathematical techniques range from simple algebra and arithmetic through the calculus, Fourier and Laplace transformations, matrix algebra, and the theory of the complex variable.
