This paper reviews the literature on transdisciplinary approaches for early assessment of very young children at risk for developmental disorders. It focuses on formal and informal techniques and instruments for the early identification of factors that could lead to school failure resulting from communication disorders or children who are at considerable risk for later experiencing them. Child development perspectives that often guide assessment strategies and intervention are discussed, and a brief section dealing with transdisciplinary professional issues is included at the end. |
