Western people and Chinese people firmly think that China is a country that dearly loves tradition. Research on Chinese music has led me to believe that the Chinese people do not work at perpetuating their traditions, but keep innovating them. Furthermore, their invention looks to be always re-invented. It is the reason why in China the word "tradition" is replaced by "State Traditionalism" in order to take into consideration the fact that it is voluntarily created and appropriated by the central power. |
