Contents: The employment situation for higher education graduates is generally deteriorating due to a stagnation and difficulties in the economic sector and continuous increase in the number of graduates. The following article, which analyses this problem with regard to the situation in Italy is based on a report written by Professor Catello Cosenza, Professor of Political Economy, University of Rome. The report was prepared within the Council of Europe's Standing Conference on University Problems (CC-PU) project on relations between employment and training. The main elements of the synthesis report, based on several national reports, was presented on page 25 of July-September 1979, Vol.IV, No.3 issue of “Higher education in Europe”.
