Talent is an interesting educational phenomenon for two reasons: talented children often experience problems in the intellectual, emotional and personal domains; the question of how to promote optimal functioning remains unanswered. Usually, the first aspect receives most of the attention, but at the level of classroom applications the second is much more interesting. What is needed is a comprehensive description of optimal functioning and a working out of the educational conditions needed to achieve this. Such a description also indicates the kind of conditions needed to optimize the learning of normally gifted students. |
