The monumental human security and developmental tragedies modern Africa embodies are turning the discourse on globalisation into a particularly contentious pursuit; at the same period dominant neo-liberal epistemology is adamant that all parts of the world are poised to reap its fabled, all-round benefits. Instead of renewal and sustainability, globalisation is exacerbating the fault lines among different social groups and fuelling political instability, civil strife, and, ultimately, state decay and, collapse in West Africa, the sub-region where the indicators and nexuses between poverty and insecurity have become most disturbing. |
