We have studied the propagation behavior of optical solitons in a distributed gain medium with finite bandwidth medium, such as in Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFAs), which are widely used as fiber amplifiers. Our analysis is based on the Fourier Series Analysis Technique (FSAT), which is a novel method recently proposed by the second and third authors to solve the nonlinear Schrodinger equation; and our results are in complete agreement with those produced by other methods. |
