The effect of gamma irradiation on the IR-absorption spectrum of the triglycine sulphate single crystal (TGS) was studied. It was observed that the band at about 1200 cm-1 gradually decreases in intensity with increased gamma ray dose until at a dose of 1.07 Mr. it completely disappears. A correlation between these results and the results of a previous study of the effect of gamma-irradiation on the piezoelectric constant d22 of TGS was made, in the light of the deductions in the current literature. |
