Brightly red luminescent ceramic powders of Eu3 +:LiLn(= La,Y & Gd)NbO3 have been synthesized by a solid state reaction method. Based on the observation of red emission from these materials under an ultraviolet source and also from the measurement of photoluminescence spectra with the prominent emission transition lifetime results, we have noticed that among the three samples investigated, particularly Eu3 +: LiYNbO3 ceramic powder has shown a significant and encouraging red luminescent performance compared with the other two materials. Therefore, for this novel red luminescent material, optimization of the dopant Eu3 + ion concentration has been carried out. For this sample, thermal analysis has been made from the recorded profiles of both differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry. Besides, their structural characteristics have also been investigated.
