Contents: Lead magnesium niobate (PMN) was prepared by a sol-gel technique. The gel calcined at 850°C for 2hr resulted in > 98% of perovskite phase. About 98% of the theoretical density was achieved for pellets sintered at 1200°C for 4hr. The room temperature dielectric constant of the pellets sintered at 1250°C for 4hr showed a maximum value of 11686 at 1 KHz. The dielectric constant increased with increasing grain size of the samples sintered at various temperatures.
