From detailed experiments on the static susceptibility in NaNO2 over a wide temperature range above TN, it was found that the critical exponent of the staggered electric susceptibility, γ, is 1.2. In this analysis we have carefully considered contributions from the thermal expansion of the lattice, the hindered rotation of the NO2γ ions, and the slight temperature-dependence of the periodicity of the staggered polarization. |
