Parents' and teachers' views on the schooling of children with motor handicaps

Titel: Parents' and teachers' views on the schooling of children with motor handicaps
Auteur: Mattson, Eva
Verschenen in: European journal of special needs education
Paginering: Jaargang 10 (1995) nr. 3 pagina's 249-257
Jaar: 1995-10
Inhoud: This paper describes parents of pupils with motor handicaps in special instruction groups at schools with assessment and intervention service programmes. The parents were interviewed about their experiences of influencing their children's schooling. It also describes what the teachers in these groups express about planning, implementation and evaluation of their instruction. The responses of these two groups are related to each other. In the discussion both the local and the societal levels of the school situation and the interaction between these two spheres are dealt with. The results indicate that the parents had very little influence on contents and methods of their children's school activities. Intervention goals dominated over educational instruction in importance, which had consequences for the pupils' possibilities of developing tools for an autonomous life.
