This paper is part of my effort to understand an awkward moment that occurred after my fieldwork in some communities of Bajo Aragon (Spain), where I was studying the drum rhythms performed during Holy Week. Alternating between first-person narrative accounts of my experiences, photographs, copies of correspondence between myself and friends in the field, followed by interpretations and analysis, I hope to lead the reader to an understanding of the problem caused by the publication of my ethnography. Ultimately, eschewing summary conclusions, I leave the paper open for multiple interpretations. |
