This paper aims to show that social processes have important effects on securing venture financing. Projects consistent with past investment choices and dominant beliefs about entrepreneurial activities may be encouraged. And, learning can be used to break previous social and economic patterns as well as to enhance prospects for securing funds. This perspective contrasts with traditional economic and financial assumptions which emphasize rationality and profit maximization as the primary basis for funding new ventures. |
