The paper deals with the minimum weight design of structures with stress and displacement constraints. The various algorithms based on an optimality criterion are derived with different degrees of approximations, and their advantages and disadvantages are mentioned. The effect of the reciprocal design variable on the optimality criterion and the algorithms is discussed. The relationship between the algorithms based on the optimally criterion and the projection method is also discussed. A structure with two hundred design variables is designed to illustrate the effect of the different recurrence relations. |
