In this correspondence an equation of the electromagnetic torque of the 2-phase drag-cup servomotor is derived. A two dimensional model of the machine is considered taking into account the end effect. Maxwell's equations in the quasi-stationary state and in the cartesian coordinates are used to solve the electromagnetic field problem in the air gap. The Fourier transform technique is used to solve the field equations. The experimental results obtained showed close agreement with the calculated results using the derived equation. |
