A COMPUTER PROGRAM TO OPTIMIZE DESIGN OF PERMANENT-SPLIT-CAPACITOR MOTORS

Titel: A COMPUTER PROGRAM TO OPTIMIZE DESIGN OF PERMANENT-SPLIT-CAPACITOR MOTORS

Inhoud: During the past few decades computers have been successfully used to perform numerical calculations and predetermined but complicated logical decisions in almost no time and at very reasonable cost. The ever increasing high speed reliability and the handling capabilities of computers are providing means to handle complex problems which can be run either as batch jobs or (on line) interactively. An interactive program which has many features of a complex design program but tailored for practical use for permanent-split-capacitor motor design is described in this paper. Many different reduction factors, such as the voltage reduction factor k, to account for voltage drop in the resistive part of the winding, the magnetic efficiency factor of the motor k etc., which can't be determined at the outset are estimated and then corrected by an iterative method to yield a better correlation between the theoretical and the experimental results. A comparison between the tests and the calculated results on permanent-split-capacitor motors is also included for brevity.
