Contents: A new method for designing decentralized dynamic load-frequency controllers for interconnected power systems using output feedback is presented. This design is based on a new decentralized pole placement technique. The desired closed-loop poles of the system are assigned using dynamic output feedback. As a stable dynamic controller is always preferred, this design ensures the same to the designer. The proposed design procedure is applied to a two-area interconnected power system. The results confirm the validity of the design procedure.
