Dual heating system which is a type of direct load control, represents the leading candidate for peak reduction and off peak load building for a winter peaking system. This paper presents an algorithm to determine the target peak load for load management systems with dual heating Installations. The objective is to maximize the load factor, without excessive use of fuel oil, subject to constraints on load interruption and available dual heating capacity. Typical data are used for a case study where the steps of the algorithm are applied and results are presented for illustration. While the main concern of this paper is dual heating, other load management means are also addressed and accounted for in the formulation of the problem. |
