Inhoud: This paper describes a new approach to the analysis of the electromechanical transient behavior of induction motors using the generalized rotating-field theory. The equation set is written on the basis of the representation of the electrical variables of the real circuits using the general theory of linear static networks -for every speed value. The supplied voltage waveform is partitioned into segments with constant or sinusoidal shape; this allows an easy computation of the system's initial state imposing dynamical steady-state conditions. The subsequent integration of the electromechanical equation then enables one to compute (by means of a step by step procedure) the whole dynamical behavior of the system. The procedure out lined, unlike d-q transformation methods, can also be applied to motors with asymmetrical windings. The performed machine simulation has -been validated by means of some experimental tests. A very close agreement has been obtained between the computed and the measured results.
