A NEW MODEL FOR THE EXPECTED ENERGY GENERATION AND EXPECTED MW-EXPORT/IMPORT OF TWO COUPLED NETWORKS

Title: A NEW MODEL FOR THE EXPECTED ENERGY GENERATION AND EXPECTED MW-EXPORT/IMPORT OF TWO COUPLED NETWORKS

Contents: A new model is developed to estimate the (i)expected energy generation in two coupled power networks as well as (ii) the expected MWhr-energy exported / imported between them. The model replaces the tie lines, coupling the two networks, by two-pair hypothetical MW-flow units. One pair is connected to each network. The two networks are then decoupled and unit-load convolution is made separately for each network. The expected exported / imported MWhr-energy and its costs are estimated for each network. The expected cost of each MWhr absorbed by the load in each network is also calculated. The effect of tie lines capacity on (i) expected energy generation, (ii) expected MWhr-export/import and (iii) expected cost of one MWhr in each network is tested. The results reveal existence of peak and optimal values for the tie lines capacity. A simple example is solved to explain the model, and sample two-coupled networks are solved to illustrate familiarity of the new model compared with other models.
