Title: The impact on remote economies of an expansion of defence capabilities in northern Australia
Author: Barber, E.
Appeared in: Defence & peace economics
Paging: Volume 7 (1996) nr. 1 pages 33-45
Year: 1996-04
Contents: The Australian Defence Force has made two major changes affecting its structure and policy during the nineties. The structural change was to increase its presence in the remote northern regions of Australia. This change together with a policy change to contract out a significant portion of its activities will have compounded social and economic impacts on Darwin which is the only large centre in this harsh, isolated region.
