The meaning of music as it is used in the liturgy of the Church is discussed, with particular reference to the observations on the subject made by Fathers of the early Church, and their similarities to and differences from pagan and Neoplatonic conceptions of music. It is concluded that music is perhaps the fullest manifestation of the divine being present always as actual created existence. |
