Let C be a simple, closed. analytic curve in the z-plane with Schwarz function S(i). and suppose that f (ζ)maps |ζ| > 1 conformally (and 1-1 ) onto the exterior of C with f(∞)=∞. We show that S(z) is analytic outside C with S(z) O(zn) as z→ ∞for na positive integer if. and only if. f(ζ) can he analyticallycontinued into lζl > 1 to yield a function whose only finite singularity is a polc of order n at ζ = 0.Also.S(z) is analytic ourside C with an essential singularity at infinity if and only if,f(ζ)can be analyticallycontinued to yield a function whose only finite singularity iu an essential singularity at ζ=0: we alsocharacterize those C with the additional property that S'(z) has no zeros outside C. |
