Beltrami's equation is a complex differential equation of the form [image omitted] where μ has to be measurable and ‖μ‖, > 1 (see e.g. the books of 0. Lehto [4] and W.L. Wendland [13]). In this paper we present a method for the numerical solution of this equation without splitting it into real and imaginarv part; we make use of the concept of complex planar splines, which were introduced in Opfer and Puri [5] and further investigated in Opfer and Schoher [6], Opfer [7] and Dikshit and Ojha [2]. Furthermore we show that the resulting approximations to the solution f can be improved considerably by applying linear extrapolation procedures ("Richardson extrapolation"). Numerical examples are included. |
