Post-Soviet foreign policy has remained obscure and, in essence, has become a hindrance to the development of Russia's relationship with the world. The present government's philosophy of foreign policy can be characterized as “Euroatlanticism” and “ideological moralism.” A constructive alternative is the “Eurasian” or “pragmatic” viewpoint, stressing geopolitics, protection of the rights of Russians outside Russia, and willingness to use strong tactics in the economic, political, and military spheres. |
