Jaar: 1982-10
Inhoud: As higher education becomes more intricate and with a growing shortage of funding, it must use its resources in an even more efficient manner. There is a growing awareness that student services professionals must think in terms of the whole university system and beyond when creating goals and evaluating their work. Consultation has been called the backbone of effective student services delivery systems; however, defining consultation needs is a necessary first step. This paper identifies and ranks the most important consultation needs of two- and four-year institutions, determined by a statewide survey of student services professionals. Having determined the consultation needs in student services, next steps include defining consultation activities, clarifying consultation goals, preparing and training consultants, and utilizing existing consultation models or developing new ones.
