Titel: THE OPEN DOOR COLLEGE: AN APPROACH TO ASSESSING STUDENT NEEDS
Auteur: Brothen, Thomas
Romano, John L.
Verschenen in: Community college journal of research and practice
Paginering: Jaargang 4 (1979) nr. 1 pagina's 1-8
Jaar: 1979
Inhoud: A methodology for use of the Student Reactions to College (SRC) was developed to compare students' perceptions of an open admissions college. The results showed that: (1) compared to younger students, older students were more certain of their plans; (2) compared to nonwhites, whites were more positive about the instructional process; and (3) compared to others, older students, minorities, and low socioeconomic students desired more assistance with living and financial problems. There were no differences between student groups on factors associated with the college administration or student-centered instruction. It was concluded that the SRC can be a useful instrument to assess student needs and provide information for program development.
