An evaluation model, employing an objectives rating system and a two-dimensional matrix to display the ratings, was applied to 145 behavioral course objectives for a general chemistry course at the community college level. The matrix provides data upon which to judge the appropriateness and the adequacy of such sets of course objectives. Data is generated with respect to performance levels required of the learners and the associated intellectual involvement of the learners as they work to achieve the objectives. This data allows an evaluation of the adequacy of the objectives in light of the general curriculum goals and the needs of the learner population. |
