The future of the American workforce depends upon the availability of quality training and student access to educational opportunities. Industry-driven curricula and employability are the links that facilitate success at the workplace. Home to the largest complex of petrochemical industries in the nation, the Gulf Coast region supplies nearly two-thirds of the Americas' demand for major petrochemi cals (Baird, 1996). The petrochemical and refining industries are mainstays along the Texas Gulf Coast with over 250 chemical plants and 30 refineries. Furthermore, Texas and Louisiana are the first and second largest exporters of chemical products in the nation (Scott,1996). |
