INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: NEW PERSPECTIVES ON NONUNIVERSITIES

Title: INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENTS IN HIGHER EDUCATION: NEW PERSPECTIVES ON NONUNIVERSITIES
Author: Kintzer, Frederick C.
Appeared in: Community college journal of research and practice
Paging: Volume 19 (1995) nr. 3 pages 235-246
Year: 1995-05
Contents: The conceptual basis for this article is that the global nature of the world of nations demands greater attention to international studies in courses required for advanced education degrees offered by U.S. universities and colleges. In keeping with this thesis, the purposes of this article are (a) to describe and compare higher education structures among the nations of the world sponsoring nonuniversity systems (e.g., U.S. community junior colleges and Japan's junior colleges); (b) to identify new nonuniversity systems (e.g., technicums in Russia and the German fachhochschulen concept in Eastern Europe); and (c) to recommend techniques to restructure courses required for the EdD and PhD in education.
