Consider two independent random samples from two Poissos populations with parameters λ1and λ2respectively, where it is suspected but not known with certainty, that λ1may be equal to λ2. The objective is to estimate λ1. A new estimator for λ1is proposed by suggesting a weighted combination of sample means for equal sample sizes case. The Mean Squared Error of this estimator is obtained and it is compared with that of [image omitted] the mean of the first sample. |
