In discriminant analysis it is often desirable to find a subset of the original measurements that will adequately classify individuals into one of m distinct populations. This paper addresses the most general case of selecting a subset of variables that will maximize or almost maximize the probability of correct classification for the case of two or more multivariate normal populations with possibly unequal covariance matrices |
